The East Midlands Diabetic Foot Group was established in 2007 as a multidisciplinary group of professionals working across the East Midlands region and who share an interest in the management of disease of the foot in diabetes. The group has met regularly in order to review medical aspects of clinical care, updated guidance, the practicalities of multidisciplinary team working, areas of relevant research and performance outcomes.
The group has been led by Dr Marie-France Kong (Leicester), Professor Frances Game (Derby) and Professor William Jeffcoate (Nottingham) and has had active input into national initiatives through Diabetes UK and NHS Diabetes and is a registered stakeholder with NICE.
The aim of the group is facilitate effective team working in the management of diabetic foot disease throughout the region, to ensure continuing expert professional education and to improve the overall outcome of clinical care.
